Current Volunteer Opportunities

Food Bank Volunteers

The afternoon volunteer will assist participants in the food bank. The volunteer may fill a variety of roles: greeting participants, explaining the shopping process, monitoring flow, providing product options from the freezer area, weighing carts as shoppers exit the food bank, taking in donations and/or stocking shelves.

  • Minimum Age – 15 without adult, 12 with adult
  • Ability and willingness to be physically active and able to do moderate to heavy lifting. Interest in service to people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Patience, compassion and excellent customer service skills. Spanish language skills are an asset.

Shifts: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11:30 – 2:30 pm and 2:15 – 5:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday:  11:30 – 2:30 pm, 2:15 – 5:00 pm and 4:45 – 7:15 pm

On-Site Training Provided

The morning volunteer will stock shelves, take in donations, and unload deliveries. Other tasks may include fulfilling home delivery and grocery pick-up orders, preparing produce, organizing coolers and freezers, and other tasks requested by the shift leader or staff.

  • Minimum Age: 15 without adult, 12 with adult
  • Ability and willingness to be physically active and able to do moderate to heavy lifting for the duration of the 3-hour shift

Shifts: Monday-Friday, 8:30-11:30

On-site Training Provided

These volunteers will assist with unloading food delivery trucks including Community Food Share deliveries, EFAA truck deliveries and or other deliveries as needed. Volunteers will also sort, put away delivered items, and stock food bank shelves.

  • Minimum Age – 15 without adult
  • This position requires repeated heavy lifting of over 40 lbs. for the duration of the volunteer shift.

Shifts: Tuesday and/or Thursday: 9:30 am – 12:00 pm, Friday 11:30 am – 2:30 pm

Holiday Gift Room

This year, EFAA has connected with Share-A-Gift, a 50-year-old Boulder non-profit that provides gifts to families in need with children aged 0-14, living within BVSD. Share-A-Gift will host their annual Toy Shop on Saturday, December 21st. People who are interested in making toy/gift donations or volunteering in the Toy Shop should reach out directly to Share-A-Gift. More information can be found at Shareagift.org.
